Sustainability Appraisal

Sustainability Appraisal (SA)

There is a statutory requirement for emerging Local Development Plans (LDPs) to be subject to Sustainability Appraisal. The role of the Sustainability Appraisal is to assess the extent to which the emerging policies will help achieve the wider environmental, economic and social objectives of the LDP.

Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)

There is also a requirement to assess the likely significant environmental effects of implementing relevant plans and programmes and to examine the likely significant effects of reasonable alternatives to the plan.

Draft Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report

The Draft Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report for the Revised °¬˛ćAƬ Local Development Plan outlines the proposed approach to the LDPs Sustainability Appraisal (SA) incorporating Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA).

The report is the first stage of the SA process and sets out objectives/criteria against which the Revised LDP will be assessed. This has involved a review of relevant plans, programmes, strategies and policies, together with a review of the environmental, social and economic baseline of the area.
